Welcome to our rescue
Left Paw Cat Rescue is a volunteer-run cat and kitten rescue based in Kings Heath, South Birmingham, dedicated to giving abandoned, stray, and unwanted cats a fresh start. We provide safe, loving foster homes for cats in need until they’re ready to be adopted into their forever families.
Our mission is simple, to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome as many cats as possible, with the help of our network of incredible foster carers and the generosity of our supporters. Every cat we take in receives veterinary care, proper nutrition, and the love they deserve, thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and donors.
We don’t operate from a shelter building, instead, we rely entirely on a network of foster homes. This means each cat experiences life in a comfortable home environment, which helps them settle faster and prepare for adoption.
By adopting, fostering, donating, or even sharing our rescue stories online, you’re helping us change lives one paw at a time. Together, we’re making South Birmingham a kinder place for cats.

Meet abi
Hi, I’m Abi Left, the founder of Left Paw Cat Rescue. My journey began with a deep love for animals, coming across a foster plea from another rescue. Me and my partner, Rhys, fostered a mom and her four 2 day old babies. From here, we have had a determination to help the countless cats struggling on the streets of South Birmingham. What started as helping one or two local strays quickly grew into a rescue that has now saved over 100 cats since January.
Running Left Paw Cat Rescue is a full-time passion and a labour of love. I rely on the kindness of foster carers who open their homes, and the generosity of donors whose contributions cover essential vet care, food, and supplies. Without them, this rescue simply wouldn’t exist.
Every cat that comes through our rescue has a story, and seeing them transform from frightened or abandoned into healthy, happy companions is why I do what I do. It’s my mission to ensure every cat in Kings Heath and beyond gets the second chance they deserve.
